The Model-Year Recordfactory terms, model lines and public safety files, filed by card

Paid placement. Click 4 Coverage is a client of OwnersFirm, which publishes this site and is paid when a reader who arrives from it buys coverage. The card on this page is advertising. Nothing on this page was scored or ordered for it.

The federal counts are matched to each model line by make and model strings; the strings used are printed on each card. One line, the Buick Regal TourX, did not match the recall file, and its card says so instead of printing zero. The brand and model numbers come from the advertiser's own published tables. We say so because it matters: the advertiser wrote the table, and we print it as written until the maker pages are checked. If a maker page disagrees, both numbers will be shown and the difference named.

How lists are sorted

Each list is one data file, one optional filter and one sort field. The rule is printed on the list itself. When two rows share the same value, they are filed alphabetically by name, with no exception and no judgment. A list is filed only when enough rows qualify: six for a ranking, ten for a table. A list short of its count waits, and the catalog front names it as waiting.

Brand tables sort by the miles in a term, because miles are the limit most drivers reach first at typical use. The years are printed beside the miles on every row so you can read either one.

The worked examples

The brand drawers and model cards carry examples at 12,000 miles a year. That is a round national-average figure, chosen for illustration and labeled as an example every time it appears. The arithmetic is simple: a term of 50,000 miles is reached after 50,000 / 12,000 = 4.17 years, about 4 years and 2 months, so a 4-year, 50,000-mile term ends on the calendar first at that pace. The calendar columns on model cards add the term's years to the model year, which assumes the car was first sold during its model year. Your VIN and odometer replace every one of these numbers.

The provider rubric, and why no page here uses it

The OwnersFirm coverage network scores vehicle service contract companies on a published 100-point rubric built only from facts a company prints about itself and from government records. This catalog ranks no coverage companies, so no page on this site applies it. It is printed here so the network's rules are readable from every site.

BucketField and pointsMax
A. TransparencySample contract online 15; online quote 10; deductible and waiting period both printed 530
B. Consumer termsMoney-back window of 30 days or more 12 (under 30 days 6); waiting period of 30 days or less, or none, 8 (31 to 60 days 4); transferable 5; a $0 deductible option 5; pro-rata refund 535
C. StandingListed on the Texas, Minnesota, New York and Nevada rosters: 4 lists 12, 3 lists 9, 2 lists 6, 1 list 3; legal entity printed 5; obligor named 825
D. Public recordNo regulator action in five years 10; one action 5; two or more 0 (.gov primary sources only)10

An unpublished fact scores zero. The five-point figure is the score divided by 20, to one decimal: a company at 60 points shows 3.0. Ties are alphabetical. What is not scored: no reviews, no cost, no customer service.

How this site is paid

Click 4 Coverage, a seller of vehicle service contracts, is a client of OwnersFirm, which publishes this site. OwnersFirm is paid when a reader who arrives from here buys coverage. Its card is labeled Paid placement wherever it appears, and its links run through this site's own /go addresses so the click can be counted. No other company paid to appear. Every table here lists car brands or model lines, so the advertiser has no row to place, and no list is ordered with the advertiser in mind.

Method · card 6

What is not printed, on purpose

No repair-cost figures, because no public source exists that we can cite and reuse. No reliability scores, no star ratings, no review-site numbers. No claim about what goes wrong with a model unless a federal file counts it, with the count and the pull date beside it. Complaint counts are labeled self-reported safety complaints not adjusted for sales volume, and model years are compared only within one model. No urgency, no guess about your car's warranty status.

Corrections

If a number here is wrong, send the page address and the source that shows it to OwnersFirm, the publisher. A correction is made on the page itself, with the date and a line saying what changed. A source we cannot read does not change a number, and an advertiser request does not either.
